The oil is extracted from the leaves part using steam distillation process.
Chemical Composition
y-terpineol, a-phellandrene, 1,8-cineole, limonene, linalool, piperitone, a and b pinene.
Oil Properties
Also known by common name of Niaouli, the oil is extracted from Melaleuca quinquenervia of Myrtaceae family. Having a slightly sweet, fresh smell, it has colors varying from colorless to that of pale yellow and greenish finish.
Therapeutic Properties
Analgesic, bactericidal, balsamic, anti-rheumatic, antiseptic, cicatrisant, expectorant, decongestant, febrifuge, vulnerary, insecticide, stimulant.
Blends Well With
Coriander, lavender, pine, juniper, fennel, lime, peppermint.
Summary
The oil helps in increasing concentration as well as in lifting the spirits. It also has in it antiseptic properties that makes the oil useful for fighting cases of infections like flu, chest infections, colds, fevers, bronchitis, whooping cough, asthma, tuberculosis, pneumonia, sinusitis, catarrh, sore throats and laryngitis.
